The Shiraz grape gives the wine ripe, sweet berry and a touch of pepper spice to the bouquet whilst the cabernet gives it depth of colour, rich blackberry fruits and soft tannins. A full bodied style with accent on fruit and not harsh tannins. Complexity is a combination of the two differing varieties, a range of different French oak used and the winemaking techniques employed during harvest. This wine has fragrant ripe berries and some leather and chocolate, the palate has obvious tannins but the sweet soft fragrant fruit gives great balance. 60% Shiraz, 40% Cabernet

Coonawarra is situated in the south east of South Australia and is an area that is about 15km long and 2 km wide. It is approximately 4.5 hours drive from the heart of Melbourne or 4 hours from Adelaide. Coonawarra experiences warm dry summers and cool wet winters. Generally the cooler the climate the more balanced the flavours and Coonawarra is known for having one of the longest ripening seasons of the world. Coonawarra is world renowned for its 'terra rossa' soil - rich red clay over limestone that is well drained, a key element in premium grape growing.
