The harvest for the Catchpole & Co 'Private Collection' SA Cabernet Merlot saw a heat-wave early in the season followed by a distinctly cool stretch, after which it had passed through, provided the most ideal picking conditions. This being the two big Bordeaux grape types we are very pleased indeed. Combining Old-world style tannins with New World style fruit is one of the things Cape wines do best and this is no exception. This example has characteristic Stellenbosch minerality, structure and depth, but with some delightful ripe dark fruit & cherries -and an overall balanced nature.
