The "Viñedos de Calidad" estate (currently 115 hectares) is located on lands where the Romans first planted vines over two thousands years ago. These lands lie at the confluence of two rivers: the Ebro and the Alhama, on the border between Navarre and La Rioja. In all great wine regions of the world, there is always a major river next to quality vinyards and this area is no exception. The Romans brought wine culture to the area, with practices which spread rapidly, as evidenced by the many remains of ancient wine cellars found in the area. The considerable production of the region was exported to Rome in amphorae transported in river barges along the Ebro, which was navigable at the time.

This excellent wine has been crafted from 50% Merlot and 50% Tempranillo grapes, aged for eighteen months in once-used American oak casks with medium toasting. It has a magnificent deep, dark garnet-red colour and an aromatic allure with notable varietal aromas (red currants, blackberries)before leading to the complex palate of magnificent structure. Meaty with a persistent attack, rich in fruity notes and ripe tannins. The finish is super long and gives a persistent, pleasant finale. Flagship wine from this estate.
